Cars BMW 3 (Е46)

New lineup BMW of 3rd series of the fourth generation, factory designation “Е46”, has appeared in April, 1998. This new Sedan on level of the used technological workings out, comfort and controllability level has closely come nearer to more high-class cars. Cars can be completed by any of six engines, beginning from economic 4-cylinder for the Sedan 316i (the maximum speed of 200 km/h), same 1.8-litre and finishing 6-cylinder 2.0, 2.3 and 2.8-litre, with system timing Vanos, and 5-step Manual transmission or АТ.
All engines have a longitudinal arrangement in an impellent compartment and actuate back wheels.

Later there was a model 320d (turbodiesel), dispersed to 100 km/h for 9.9 with. Thanks to increased by 60 mm to a track and on 30 mm to wheel base the Sedan is rather steady, however it has caused suspension bracket modernisation. The salon with which equip with six auxiliary pillows of safety is updated also.

One year debuted two-door Compartments 323 Ci and 328 Ci later. Designers managed to facilitate visually initially enough massive body, having kept "thin" average racks. Glasses of doors are issued on American manners - without frameworks. Back lateral glasses do not fall, and turn only a little. Back seats for increase in space of a luggage carrier can be combined, the steering wheel and the check point lever are fitted by a skin. In the end of 1999 after the Sedan, the Versatile person and the Compartment of the third series the concern has prepared a cabriolet for manufacture. “Трешка” with soft top it is made on the basis of the Compartment, however doors, back wings and the back panel of a body have found other plasticity - the cabriolet looks prompter, dynamical. The collapsible top is cleaned in the special container, and at desire (for example, during the winter period) this container it is possible to remove and establish easily a rigid roof which is offered at additional expense.

The increased intervals of maintenance service allow to lower working costs. For example, the interval of replacement of oil can make depending on a mode of use of the car to 30 000 km.

Various electronic systems raise comfort of passengers. Memory of individual options of the equipment and a key concern such systems, for example. By means of the first the owner of the car establishes the basic functions of adjustment of the uniform lock, internal and external illumination, and also the conditioner. Memory of a key allows to keep options of four drivers of the car having an own key. Thanks to it automatic adjustment of position of a seat at opening of the uniform lock is possible. Besides, the uniform lock can be programmed in such a manner that doors, after трогания from a place, are automatically blocked.

There is a wide choice and other systems of comfort established as the additional equipment: the xenon lamps, automatically blacked out rear-view mirror, the conditioner, the continuous control of pressure of air in tyres, a screen wiper with the rain gauge, navigating system and the TV.
The conditioner enters into a standard complete set of 6-cylinder models.

Traffic safety raises thanks to presence ABS. At sharp braking on turns the monitoring system improves controllability and stability of the car. As special addition there is a system of dynamic stabilisation of stability DSC which reacts to the beginning of occurrence of drift of the car and counteracts it means притормаживания certain wheels.

On models with a full drive (325xi, 330xi, 330xd) the rotating moment of wheels is distributed between forward and back wheels in a constant proportion of 38 % and 62 % by means of interaxal differential and system of automatic differential braking ADB.
